My SB Live MP3 Edition supports coax digital output out of the box. My freevo box connects to my receiver. It sounds great, and I couldn't ever go back to analog audio. :) (Most of my video is AC3.)
O.K, I thought you were sending the vid/aud via wireless and the original post suggested doing, however, after re-reading your post I see you are cabled which makes more sense. I am using a C-Media Electronics Inc CM8738 which also works great via optical and was like 22$ so you can't go wrong, well too wrong at least :)
