Hi,

I was reading the discussions on interface design and have some objections
to one of those proposals:

> One of the things I mentioned before is that it would be great if we
> could use
> Daap somehow to create a similar music navigation structure as in iTunes
> (using Genre, Artist, Album and Track title information from the ID3
> data).

This kind of Navigation based on ID3 Tags is nice, but in most scenarios
absolutly unusable. If you look at the ID3 Tags you will get in real life,
you will see that most files have wrong genre, missing album and year and
each file has it's own spelling of songtitle and author. That results in
very bad lists if you sort on any of these items.
On the other side, most users sort their files into some kind of folder
structure that is easy to manage.
So, using ID3 Tags for navigation and/or search is a nice option but it must
always remain that. An option. This kind of navigation was one of the main
points that made me switch from mythtv to freevo.

Cheers, ToBe
