It seems my mplayer is not using my mga_vid.o either... although it is loaded.

My freevo.conf has display=mga... and it will not play any media with the module unloaded, so it is "using" it...

Why would an divx be using 30% of a P4 2.4?

mplayer and xine act the same.

Hum...

If interested Long:
I must say default freevo works alot better than the olden days. I did a Gentoo "emerge" about 6 weeks ago and noticed that playing DVD .iso images had DVD menus out of the box! How could this be? Oh, it's running xine instead of mplayer.

Now I'm trying to do other things on the "home theater" system at the same time as play the video. (cd rip my collection with cdparanoia/lame) But I get CPU starvation!
fbxine is taking up about 50% of the CPU. It's a 2.4 P4 enabled running 2.4.26 with HT. (lame is taking 30% and cdparanoia is 2%) I'm going to try turning off HT. I can't go to a newer kernel because LVM2 didn't like them much yet, but there are probably patches.

I assume that fbxine can't use mga_vid.o from mplayer. This is what I've been using in the past for very low CPU load while playing .avi (and I think .vob).

Is there a way for fbxine to use excelerated mga or tell it to use mga_vid?

Anyway, I'll go research my question and answer myself... logging it here for others. ;)

Thanks!
