I have this same problem too and I do not have a good solution. The problem
is in freevo's way to use mplayer. Freevo uses an argument -demuxer 17 (if
I remember it correctly) when a mp3 file is identified. For some mysterious
reason mplayer cannot play some mp3 files with this argument. Without this
argument it can. You can comment this argument out from mplayer.py (not
sure?), but then some other features of freevo (such as fast forward and
rewind) do not work in an exact manner.
The problem may be in the configuration of mplayer, but I do not know
where.
