I think the level of suck in gnome has actually gone down quite considerably since 2.4, they've really pulled it together IMHO. E has cool tech, no doubt about it, but I think gnome is a more realistic user experience. KDE oozes too much 'look at me' cluttered, ambiguous, directionless tat. I'm actually happier with gnome than I ever was with windows, with gnome i don't get "what the fuck is it doing that for" moments, its more of a "man i really need to figure out what is breaking <something>" the difference being of course, that I can actually find out why something is broken, as opposed to the windows way which is "its an undocumented feature" well, as features go, the mouse moving up an inch and a half just as I'm going to click something isn't a positive increment to the user experience, and the fact i can't install to a SATA hard drive if you don't have a floppy drive isn't exactly positive either (which is my main reason for /switch ing) I refuse to purchase a FDD for about a tenna, when I never use one, and it is completely ridiculous to put such a requirement on an OS install especially when floppy disks have a tendancy to do crazy things to my computer http://linuxgazette.net/issue84/orr.html BTW, I still have the same keyboard. It has lasted, although now it has wax and various other impairments which are making me look for a replacement (logitech comfort, can't be a hypocrite these days ;)).
