You've got it!
There was indeed a .directory file in my Music folder.  Removing that, gave
me back all my cd covers!! :-D

Strange that this didn't affect Freevo 1.5.x/1.6.x then?
(Though I have not tried installing Freevo 1.6.3 back again)

I think that there is a .directory file somewhere on your music files
tree. I have noticed that this blocks all the other images, except cover.
