I just tried creating a symlink, named test, poining to the "Oôs Joôs"
directory.
Freevo has no problems anymore playing the content of this symlinked
directory.

Though I still don't have a audio cover shown, and I get this error in the
main-500.log:
osd.py: Bitmap file "/home/michel/Muziek/sic-mdk.png" doesn't exist!

2007/3/18, Michel Hoogervorst <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

It seems my problem with 1.7.0 is bigger then I thought... since upgrading
from 1.6.3 I found it to be very unstable. When playing a playlist,
somehow, I do see cover images, but Freevo crashes when it tries to open
something with non-standard characters.

For instance, I have my music collection in /home/michel/Muziek, and under
that I have some music of a band called "Oôs Joôs" in
/home/michel/Muziek/Rock/Oôs Joôs

Now, I can just open the "Oôs Joôs" folder from Freevo, but when I try to
open a subdirectory (the albums are in a subdirectory), for instance the
directory "Ben roik", Freevo crashes.
Strange thing is, that the files in this directory are named 01.flac,
02.flac etc... and one file called front.jpg, so no non-standard
characters are used in that.

In main-500.log I see this message:

Note that I had never any issues playing the music in this directory with
Freevo 1.5.x and 1.6.x

Any idea?
I just have no idea where to start searching...
