Hi,

I just stumbled upon this post when browsing through the old
Freevo-users digest, and would like to comment. I'm the Fedora RPM
packager for Freevo.

I'd suggest going with Fedora Core. Currently I'm running Freevo on Core
5 but it should be working on Core 6. Core 7 would need the packages
rebuilt probably due to change in python major version.

I've built Freevo on x86_64, but it's not so easy to get it done
correctly. The issues arise with the kaa-* libraries that have *.so
files, where they're placed in /usr/lib64/python* instead of
/usr/lib/python*; whereas the freevo package and libraries without any
*.so files are placed in /usr/lib/python*. To force them to all install
into a single directory (/usr/lib64/python*) need modified SPEC files
that I've not released (and were used to build a single kaa-* package
instead of the current separated packages).

In addition, there is some problem with the mixer IOCTL in x86_64 which
causes a traceback dump on my setup.

I'd recommend sticking with a 32-bit distribution for these reasons.
