FYI - Logitech makes a wireless version of the rumble 2 pad:

However, I do understand that the ps3 or 360 remotes may be more suited
toward a younger player and that the ps3 has the advantage of using BT for
better connectivity. Best of luck in your decision!

Hi Michael!
Thanks for the reply... I'm looking for wireless (oops, didn't put that in
the original message), and looking to start with one controller (for my 4
year old), and add more later (for us and the toddler). Wireless is
essential with a 15 month old tornado that's fond of cables.
I was looking at the Wireless 360 or Wiimote (and the PS3 controller in
retrospect) since they utilze radio receivers that support multiple
controllers on the same receiver. I believe the Logitech and other wireless
models use a 1:1 controller:receiver setup. Your experience is good to know
for wired controllers, and may help those reading the list archives make a
purchasing decision.
For the benenfit of the list, the PS3 and Wiimote controls use Bluetooth,
and can work with many BT dongles. The Wireless Xbox uses a dedicated MS
reciever that supports 4 controllers. I've never actually used any of them;
this is where I'm lacking the experience. Last time I played any games
seriously, it was on a Commodore 64 or an Atari 2600.
Thank you for your time and sharing your experience. Much appreciated!
/Mike

Hi, not sure if this fits your needs but Im quite happy with my logitech
rumblepad 2, its USB HID compliant so no need for any special drivers. Just
plug it in and make sure you games can read /dev/input/js0 or similar...

Michael
