Hi John!

Thanks for your reply! Would you mind a few more questions? (below)

Hi Michael,

I've no exposure to the wii remote but the PS3 controller is great, nice
comfortable grip, lightweight, decent life from the batteries and you
charge it from USB. As you mentioned it's bluetooth so between it and an
360 controller I'd go for the PS3.

Well, going the Bluetooth route would allow for the PS3 controller, and if it's
too complicated for the 4 year old, allow for a Wiimote. Anyways, on to my
questions (and forgive my ignorance on some of them; things have changed a lot
in gaming since I last played any).

Do you have to plugin.activate('joy') to use the controller to operate games
launched from Freevo, or is it merely for navigating through Freevo menus a la
remote control?

Now here's where I'm gonna seem daft... With all the buttons and sticks on it,
what are they all used for? Are they mapped to certain standard functions, or
do they have to be mapped on a game-by-game basis? I'm confused a bit by the
two sticks and the 4-way thingy on the left shoulder.

Is the Sixaxis stuff supported under Linux, and do any games support it?

Which additional utilities should I install? I've seen 'joystick' and
'jscalibrator', and I've seen contradictory stuff via google as to which to
install/use or don't use.

Does Qjoypad work with the PS3 controller? My wife likes Pacman, so I thought
I'd install njam and use Qjoypad to translate joystick events to the keypresses
that njam expects.

Anything else I haven't thought of? I've seen a How-to on the net for
installing the PS3 dependencies, so I think I can muddle my way through that
part of thing...

I really appreciate your help! The list archives on this may help others who
are new to Freevo also...

Thanks again!

/Mike
