Hi all,

This isn't really to do with freevo, but related.... :)

I have most of my media on a central file server (linux + samba), so
all my DVD's, Photos and Music are all shared from a big central disk.
I also share out the local tv recording directory from my freevo box
via samba.

My freevo system uses DVB-T and just dumps MPEG-TS streams straight to
disk, and then I play them back with xine or mplayer either on the TV,
or on my PC over the network.

I am looking at the idea of one of these "media players" that are now
available that allow you to play video and music over the network with
a small solid state (no fans) device. There are several of these, but
I am looking at either the Freecom MediaPlayer 350, or the Xyxel
DMA-1000 as they are both sensibly priced.

I will be using a wire ethernet connection, and want something "future
proof" that will play h.264 HD content once I start recording that,
and will also play my DVD iso images, mp3's and browse my photos (all
jpeg). The aim being to set this up in the bedroom with a small LCD
screen.

Does anyone on the list have any experience with the 2 devices I have
mentioned, how well they work etc? I have read some stuff on the web
that that the MediaPlayer 350 100% reliable TS support, which is
essential for me as all my TV is just a TS dump from DVB, but I have
not found anything concrete on either of them to do with TS files
recorded from DVB (especially in the UK).

Cheers.

Steve.
