The ps3 has 256 RAM but somewhere between 10 and 20mb of that it taken up by the frame buffer. This leaves around 240mb for linux, freevo, and dvbstreamer.. blast. I was looking forward to dropping vdr ;-).
The ps3 has other limitations as well. In particular, the hypervisor which is an engine over the Hard Disk IO; can only do about 30mb's. I Think this means I'll need to have a USB hard disk to record HD TV (lucky I'm not planning on using HD TV hehe).
