I realize this is off-topic, but I am in a bind and thought I would see if
some kind soul here would spend a few minutes helping me out. I operate a
very small ISP and everything I currently offer is running on win2k. I have
come to the realization that I really need to if not migrate, at least
support the Linux platform for reasons I am sure everyone on this list is
aware. That is when I started looking at the freevsd solution. My problem
is one of simply installing RedHat. I have set up a couple of servers, one
of which will be a freevsd server (eventually!) and I am trying to get Gnome
to run to give me a GUI to work with.
Well, the RedHat server install doesn't install any X-window capability, so
I have tried a couple of methods to get it going, and it just doesn't seem
to be right. Would someone on this list be willing to give me a few minutes
of their time to help get this running? When I put a support ticket in with
RedHat, the response was that it goes beyond the scope of their installation
support....sure...so anyway, if anyone is willing, email me a phone number
and I will bug you for a few.
Thanks in advance for the consideration, and I look forward to getting
freevsd up and running!
John

Subject: Errors running vsd-genskel.pl
When running vsd-genskel.pl I get the following errors...
...
grep: /etc/inetd.conf : No such file/directory
...
/proc is empty (not mounted?)
...
error reading information on service proftpd : No such file/dir
...
I've checked /proc and it does seem to be there and not empty.
Are these OK to ignore?
Thanks,
----
