Hallo all

I'm new to freevsd, and have spent the last few days getting to grips with
most of it. I'm using the prebuilt 1.4.8-1 skel, and upgraded most bits with
no problem and added new daemons which work well.

Apache-1.3.20 is a problem - I built a new one with mostly built in modules,
in the host tree and copied that into the skel, into what becomes the same
location in the VS as the host. Damn thing's no good in a VS :</ It works fine
in the host (vs's off), it works fine in the vs tree (httpd.conf paths altered to
suit), but the selfsame daemon fails when started from a VS - "document
contains no data" Google produced nothing of relevance on this, alas.

The pre-built one, 1.3.14 in /usr/sbin, works fine. If I copy the new daemon
from /usr/apache/bin to there, a 'configtest' is OK, but it fails with the same
message. Removing mod_perl from httpd.conf makes no difference. Is
there something in the VS setup which doesn't like this version? Or is it
the fact that modules are compiled in rather than being DSO? Or have
I just made a really stupid newbie blunder???

Any help appreciated.
TIA
Lyn St George
