Good that you start this important discussion. We need to find a
very good solution for this.

No, you are right. I choose Kamikaze as base for FreeWRT, because of
the better buildroot environment. This does not mean we will keep
/etc/config.

We need to find a general solution. Joerg and me discussed this a
few times, but still not ready to come up with a perfect solution.

We are thinking about a special Fuse filesystem, which mounts some
(two or three) flash blocks and presents a normal filesystem with
can be read and written.

May be Joerg will explain the idea later.
