Hi,

(I just noticed that I wrote my first mail in German on this list. :-( I'll
switch over to english so more people are able to read them.)

After installing several different firmware images on my Asus WL-500g, I have
some additional information to share. Furthermore I found out that my problem
is
not limited to FreeWRT. I see the same problem with OpenWRT (kamikaze 7.04 with
kernel 2.4 and 2.6, whiterussian rc6).

Images that CAN be installed using the ASUS rescue software:
- original, proprietary firmware 1.9.5
- ddwrt 2.3 sp2
- OpenWRT whiterussian RC5 with jffs2 or squashfs

Images that CAN't be installed:
- FreeWRT 1.0.3 (squashfs/jffs2)
- OpenWRT whiterussian RC6, kamikaze

So after all, it seems as there was a change between OpenWRT RC5 and RC6 which
prevents it from installing on my router.

Probably there's not much you can do about it (especially given the new focus
on
1.1 and against the brcm platform as outlined by Waldemar).
