No Zwiki was not installed on top of Plone. Both ZWiki and Plone were installed on top of Zope. Mathaction is a specific modification aka. plugin module of ZWiki... based on what was at one time incorporated into the ZWiki product by the developer of ZWiki. However what was last running on the AxiomWiki did have a fair number of additional modifications (hacks) which never made it back upstream.
