I don't need bitmaps. Not now. I don't yet know whether they would be
necessary for the printed book version, but that's not my concern at the
moment.

Would you have a pointer. Is viewing of .data files somewhere used so
that I could perhaps replace the calls to showing bitmaps by showing .data?
