It's not perfect, either, but I like that TeX will compute the box widths. Problem is \frac, but I think we don't have too many of those that would show up wrong. And yes, it requires LaTeX output, but I guess, I'll rather add ")set output latex on" and use breqn than using a fragile (and external) texbreak.
