There is actually already another list for the peace presence effort. It's called [EMAIL PROTECTED], and is located at: http://buyorganic.org/mailman/listinfo/peace-presence I setup this new list for John Hadder after the first meeting on the Peace Presence, since people there wanted to keep in touch via email. As far as the friends list goes, I expect much of the discussion here to migrate over to some online topic-based discussion boards, once I have a chance to set them up. Then, the purpose of the friends list will become a kind of back-room discussion among people who are committed to this project and want to be able to email their peers in this group at once, (for whatever reason). Most discussion will be on the web, however, for ease of use and wider participation. The email list can simply be used to point the group of committed people to important threads and issues, for example... > We could send out notices about any new germain topics through the > announce list (thereby allowing people to stay current with topics) > allowing them to opt in when there is a topic they find of personal > interest. Exactly. Very important topics would be pointed out on the announce list, as well as just the friends list... > With regard to the current post-Sept 11 situation, Jeb, John-e-be, > and Carol are aware of my view on this current mis-adventure (refer > to my personal e-mail that I sent to you three in Sept), but if > you'd like Jeb I could set up and alternate news source page for > anyone who would like to see what other "credible" press sources are > saying about "the war on terrorism". Yeah, I'm thinking that would be a good idea, and actually I really want to setup some news oriented software for the website which will make it easier to manage the type of information you are so good at gathering, John. A while back, I was trying to setup the Scoop software that runs http://www.kuro5hin.com but I couldn't get it running. More recently, I've been leaning toward PostNuke http://www.postnuke.com which will be easier to work on. However, I think a phpBB discussion board will be better for BuyOrganic, so I'm thinking thinking of turning ocha.net into a PostNuke portal for a variety of topics from organics, to peace, to GNU/Linux, Internet technology, and small business vs corporations. I'd like to put the short ocha.net domain to better use as portal, and keep my longer topic based domains more focused... Anyway, that's the plan. Your comments are welcome. Thanks, -jeb _______________________________________________ Buying Club discussion list at BuyOrganic.org http://buyorganic.org/mailman/listinfo/friends
