texmf/tex/latex is where I find all of those files...if they really are missing on your computer, then it probably is a botched installation... I'd again suggest moving your *.tex files to Kronos and compiling your TeX from there. Inside KDE, the "start menu" has an application kdetexmaker that lets you just open your *.tex files and then the Tools menu lets you compile them to DVI, PS, or PDF.

Which machine are you editing on and which machine are you trying to compile your files on...you speak of multiple machines...

I would think so too but I have looked in every path I can think of
(/usr/shared/texmf/tex/... etc) and I can't find any of the files in the
folders. Maybe a bad installation could cause me to not have the files??
I'm using emacs to edit the LaTeX files and I don' tknow about the
errors...and I can't really copy them because they are on a totally
different computer. I have no clue ?????
