A hit and run about upgrading Fedora Core. Yum (http://linux.duke.edu/projects/yum/) is a program that is functionally similar to apt. I understand, from a reliable source, that one may upgrade entire systems with the power of Yum, say from Core 1 to Core ... 4. Or whatever.
Nate
I'm familiar with yum, and I used to use it. I tried and tried and tried to tell myself it was better than apt, but I just couldn't do it.
I just found this website for upgrading Fedora:
http://www.brandonhutchinson.com/Upgrading_Red_Hat_Linux_with_yum.html
The first paragraph reads:
It is possible to upgrade your Red Hat Linux/Fedora Core system using yum instead of choosing a CD/DVD-based install or upgrade option. Only experienced Red Hat/Fedora Core users should attempt this, as the upgrade process is not necessarily seamless.
I have a production machine and would like a little more reassurance that my upgrade will work. This is one of the reasons why I jumped ship.
