hello all, jut a quick question wondering if anyone knows how to make this work.  i'm using gentoo linux, the most recent version i think, and i know it's set up to easily work with dhcp, but i'm having trouble with the static ips that the network here is using.  we can't use dhcp, so i have to go in and manually configure my network settings every time i shut down and reboot.  i know there's probably some configuration file that i can modify to make it use the static setting every time it boots, but i've already messed a little with the conf.d/network, conf.d/wireless and the conf.d/local.start all to no avail......anyone have any more ideas?  i'm fresh out, and my tech support (my brother who gave me the laptop) is about out, too.....

thanks,
john becker
