I will agree that I have quite seemless printing from the Ubuntu laptop, although sometimes printing is different for faculty and student accounts. Like others, I just used a smb url to print to in the printer configuration tool, like: smb://TRUMAN/krypton.truman.edu/vh2133p1 (although I believe faculty have different print server, so tp1 is probably right for students). As for the "printing to IP address" workaround that we used to use in the old days, I could be mistaken but I believe that hasn't worked since shortly after the $2x10^6 Cisco network upgrade.
