I think if two potential job candidates look like they have similar experience and skills, but only one is an MM Certified Developer, they will probably go for the Certified one... so yeah, I should probably aim to do that certification test with this new FMX 04 version I reckon.

To be honest, I think it's going to take me a while to get my head around this new version, to feel like I'm ready to do that as well. Is there even a certification test ready to go for FMX '04 yet?

Hi Robin

Not just Flash, there's a general dysfunction amongst agencies out there of the
developer/designer difference.
Certification has its uses as we know but I doubt telling someone "I'm a
certfied Flash developer" will turn the light on for them, unless they're canny
enough to ask what a Flash developer does.

There's an education project for someone here.. :D

If a few more people got Flash developer certification it would help
agencies understand the difference between developer and designer.
(No time to get into another certification thread, I'm practicing for
the Perth launch demo tomorrow).

Hi all

I'm really pessimistic about stuff like this... these agencies have to get
serious about the rates
they put out.. of course they'll be charging their client $40/hr.

3 years AS development means they'll be looking for someone who started at
v3 or 4 and I don't
anyone who coded in the 'little Actions box' that will accept a rate like
that..

What do all of you think about this? How are rates like this going to
attract new developers to Flash?

Cheers
