How might they filter this? I mean what about prank calls?
Since all 911 calls are logged based on their actual source number (with a few exceptions such as trunked lines, and many of these are being dealt with by companies as they upgrade their PBX systems), anyone trying to do a prank call from a cell phone will have his identity picked up fairly quickly. In addition, many phones now send GPS coordinates when calling 911, so if it becomes a problem, an officer could be dispatched to deal with the situation, and photos or video would be available as evidence of the mischief. I'm just wondering from the IT end of things how this will work, and how the storage systems will be set up. -- Jarrod Frates GAWN
