I don't know about political spin but I really enjoyed the song - with the
exception of the pronunciation of the word "router".
Router - Pronunciation: \ˈrau̇-tər\ [\ a \ as *ou* in
*ou*t<javascript:popWin('/cgi-bin/audio.pl?out00001.wav=out')>
]
a device that mediates the transmission
routes<http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/routes>of data packets over an
electronic communications network (as the Internet)
**a machine with a revolving vertical spindle and cutter for milling out the
surface of wood or metal
Rooter - Pronunciation: \ˈrüt *also* ˈru̇t\ [ \ ü \ as *oo* in
l*oo*t<javascript:popWin('/cgi-bin/audio.pl?loot0001.wav=loot')>also \
\
as *oo* in f*oo*t <javascript:popWin('/cgi-bin/audio.pl?foot0001.wav=foot')>]to
noisily applaud or encourage a contestant or team
Perhaps the confusion stems from, as suggested by Webster, "rout":
Rout - Pronunciation: \ˈrōt, ˈrüt\ [ \ ü \ as *oo* in
l*oo*t<javascript:popWin('/cgi-bin/audio.pl?loot0001.wav=loot')>also
\
\ as *o* in g*o* <javascript:popWin('/cgi-bin/audio.pl?go000001.wav=go')>]
Etymology: Middle English *rowten,* from Old Norse *rauta;* akin to Old
English *rēotan* to weep, Latin *rudere* to roar
Date: 14th century
Again, I've never heard ANYONE - be they American or English - refer to a
router (as in a Cisco router) as the equivalent of one who cheers or roars.
:) Well, until now.
