In "Edit" mode, click on the little up-and 
down-arrows-connected-to-two-horizontal-parallel-lines icon right below the "X" (close 
file) icon in the vertical toolbar.

Oh, or, select "Split Editor" from the "Options" menu.

And, in fairness, i found that Studio also does allow you to save search & replace 
patterns.  But it appears you can't undo aftwards, even if you only did the 
replacement on the current document.  Or am i wrong about that?
