My apologies if I misunderstood. Although we do use MySQL in-house, I'm
afraid I don't follow the product very well.

However, it was my understanding that the GPL only applies to certain uses
of the product. For instance, embedding the MySQL engine in another product
falls under a different license.

This would seem to be different than Linux and Apache?
