Well, after some discussion with our folks here, we've crafted out a game
plan that's gonna keep us legal, keep us operational, and avoid pouring too
much $$$ into the Microsoft beast.

Ditch our SQL-on-cluster setup (active/passive setup on 4-processor
PentiumPro 200 nodes) and move SQL server to a single CPU box. Do nightly
backups to our cool mirrored RAID array for data redundancy. (cool cuz' the
two halves of the mirror are located in physically separate locations via
fiber optic link)

And, bring on Cache! We're gonna port as many apps as possible over to
Cache, and basically stop development for MS SQL. We'll keep the lone CPU
box around for compatibility with the apps that 'gotta have it', but from
here on out, we're saying 'adios' to MS SQL. Our future goal? 100% Cache, 0%
MS.

So, instead of being able to soak us for a 4-processor license, it will be
for 1 processor. And we're gonna put a freeze on any new apps requiring MS
SQL, so there won't be any future need to upgrade into whatever crooked
licensing scheme they cook up.
