Well, I would not agree that "the usefulness of FuseBox is not in any way
dependent upon other people adopting it". A very large part of the
usefulness of ANY technique is the degree to which its use becomes a
"standard".

I would not ever encourage anyone to adopt the best application architecture
in the world if there was nobody else using it. Remember Beta video, right?
In the real world, we have to be concerned with shared knowledge, support,
mutual aid, and the fact that any given wheel has almost certainly already
been invented. You need other people to go before you (or at least side by
side), to ease the way.

I have said before that FuseBox is not perfect, and that there are probably
better ways of constructing web applications. But that is not important.
What REALLY matters is that FuseBox is sufficiently simple and flexible to
build whatever application is needed, and that it is by far the most popular
ColdFusion architecture around. When the world changes to a different
technique, then I'll go with them - otherwise I'd still be tinkering with my
Commodore Amiga :)

It should be especially obvious to everyone on this list that the really
fantastic thing about FuseBox is the community of users, and the vast pools
of knowledge and experience within, rather than any intrisic value of the
techniques themselves.

It's the age-old problem of The Scientist and The Engineer to believe that
they can carry on their various pursuits without regard to what the rest of
the world is doing. But Science, Engineering, and yes, Software Development
are all inextricably SOCIAL activities.

Sorry for the diatribe ;-)

See you later,
LeeBB

For another, the usefulness of Fusebox is not in any way dependent upon
other people adopting it, and I like that. It simply works, and one of its
more elegant features is that it can co-exist seamlessly with other
methodologies or even with variations on FB itself.
