WEll,
dumping the entire content into the database won't be a good idea i think
as this will make unnecessary hops to the database for each page . but then
you'll advice to cache the queries ,but being a colocation server i won't
prefer bringing the server to its knees assuming a large amount of static
pages.
i have somewhat a different idea , so folks comment on it before i start
on implementation!
i'll make a scheduler that will run every night and this will crawl through
all the static pages directory .
am planning to make a wddx file on the server . this file will hold a
structure having each word found as a key(though another structure having
the page titles, their fuseactions etc .
when a user performs the search on particular words thease words will be
searched in the primary structure and the structures containing pages
having those words will be returned .
but the complexity is in reading the static pages since they will have a lot
of html in them and i dont want it that way.
Other option can be instead of having a structure this scheduler can store
the content into the database which merely acts as
text for the search and if words found in the text the page name along with
the fuseaction and the title is returned.
for both cases i;ll need to parse the pages though.
Is there any custom tag that removes all the html tags from the page and
just leaving the content between the tags available.
or is it time for me to jump into regular expressions once again. :)

I completely agree!! I fought the good fight with verity and other searching
technologies as they relate to FuseBox sites. I even wrote a verity indexing
and search application that has long since died because it is just not
effective enough. The more simple solution was to just dump your static
content into the DB and display it via a fuseaction and an ID.

Store all your content in a database and have a fuseaction associated to it.
Then it's just a matter of a little SQL statement.

Subject: URGENT ! fusebox model and site search
Hi,
I need to develop a site search functionality for the site i am working on.
the site is divided into several circuit applications like news section ,
updates sections, products listings , and static pages etc .The client wants
to have a complete site search on both the applications as well as the
static pages.
the web hosting service ,the site is hosted on has disabled verity so i am
looking for another alterntive without using verity for this.
Please rush in any ideas you have for the same, except changing the hosting
service :).
I need some ideas urgently.
Thanks in advance
regards,
Amit
