I'm planning to allow you to have special fusedoc and "snippet" elements.
The snippet elements actually hold html code that can be imported or linked
to dynamically (just like in a desktop publishing package). On export of the
strucute, the fusedocs, html and branching code statements are combined to
make display, action or query pages by the application. With the fusedocs,
they can all be gathered into a single XML application or even possibly
exported to PDF.

You're correct. In fact the representation that the user has of the current
system should merely be a view into the structure of the system. It should
follow the Model-Adaptor-View model so that at any point the view can change
to allow different representation of the model. The Adaptor classes then
deal with translation and communication between the Model and the View. When
I teach software design I try to make sure that people understand this model
as it's a more powerful model for their software.

ADALON itself is coded in Java, though I'm not sure which edition. Most of
my work these days in Java so I'm going to poke around ADALON to see how
effective it is in creating J2EE code.

My main focus right now though is to make a Fusebox-only tool that will
operate on any platform and export to initially CF, PHP and ASP. Other
languages will be added as drop-in modules.

Borland ran into this problem when they release Kylix (Delphi for Linux).
They initially priced the Desktop Developer version at $999. Very few people
bought it at that price (I did though). They then realized that open source
users don't want to pay that much and they dropped the price to $299 or so.
Many developers then bought it and it's getting used heavily.

I'm considering the following as a pricing system:

Commercial
==========
* Developer edition (desktop only) $100
Doesn't allow the use of networked asset manager, editions etc

* Enterprise edition (networked multiuser) - $500 - 5 users +$50 per extra
seat
Allows the use of networked asset manager, editions of sites, and many other
features.

Personal
========
* Personal Edition - Free for personal use, but with some stripped down
features, such as only exporting to one language.
