OK, I'm posting here as none of my posts seem to be going to the topica list.
Hal just posted a 'correction' to historical record and I wanted to make sure it
WAS a correction.
The Fusebox list was created on HoF. At points the lists slowed down due to
load. This was corrected as can be seen on the lists as they stand now (and have
for years). Hal stated that there was a great deal of consultation before the
move. This is news to me as I was TOLD that the FB lists were going to be moved
and had no time to say anything to the contrary. I don't know who was consulted,
but whoever it was seems to want to keep control over the lists rather than let
the community make a decision.
Do I care if the FB lists are on HoF? Nope. If they are I'll do my best to
support them. If not, then it doesn't bother me in the least. Actually, what
does bother me is the state of the FB community. When it left HoF it was a
community with active posters, personality and more. Now I see just a shadow of
that.
A community needs to be watered like a plant. If the environment is not a good
one, change it. If people are not posting, then post and draw them into
conversation. If they're not understanding, then teach. It they have a good
idea, accept. This is the basics of community management and it seems to be
sorely lacking in the FB community as it stands. I could be wrong about that,
but....
