Transparencies and variable data go together like nitroglycerin and pogo
sticks.

Postscript uses layers to describe a page, and transparencies always go
on top.

Unfortunately, Variable Data also insists on going on the top layer, so
they never agree.

After five years, I have yet to finds an acceptable way to use variable
data and transparencies consistently.
