We have been having this problem too, since upgrading to FP 5.8P1c (never had 5.8P1b installed long enough to even complete one template...). We have the same issue on all three of the PCs we upgraded. Doesn't compose correctly, and even balks at some of the fonts that appear in the fonts dropdown for text frames.
I've noticed that a LOT of the fonts that worked correctly in FP 4.2 now do not work (appear as dots). Unfortunately we can't compose locally for templates we've already published since something is corrupt... My guess is that somehow the Unicode enhancement has had an impact.
