Hello,
The current company that I am with, is still looking into the advantages
of going with the 4-state code. The previous company that I was with,
was looking into doing the 4-state coding process themselves as part of
the data processing tasks, then simply using the barcode font supplied
by USPS. As of when I left there was only one customer that stated "you
will use this new coding for our jobs by this date. PERIOD!"
I do believe that with the growing number of clients that are now doing
on-line ordering of On Demand fulfillment and print orders, and adding
to that those print and mailing fulfillment companies collecting pieces
of these orders (sometimes from multiple warehouse locations), the
tracking capability of the new OneCode will simply become so invaluable
to all parties involved. Also, more and more companies may ultimately
force the issue onto direct market vendors and print companies. Some of
these vendors will have the internal IT resources to do the processing
in house and thus be able to offer these services earlier than others.
They will have a definite advantage.
I further believe that FusionPro (as well as other software companies)
will also fall into the same category of needing to provide such a
service as quickly as possible. If the end client is forcing the direct
market vendors to use this process or lose business, then many of the
existing FusionPro clients may simply switch to a software company that
can provide them with the capabilities inside the software rather than
putting a strain on already tasked IT departments (if one even exists)
or the need and further expense of hiring people to create an IT Department.
Not everyone works for a company with almost infinite resources.
