Christopher, I use FusionPro Server on a daily basis for all of my templates. It does not matter if you turn sub-setting on or off for this process to work. The problem that you are having is that you are designing on one system and then compiling the output on a totally different system - and the Server box can't see the fonts from your original system. If you are designing on a PC then you have two choices to solve this problem. If you are designing on a Mac you only have one.
Choice One (PC Only) - You can always load the necessary fonts onto you FusionPro Server box as you need them. Then when FusionPro composes your final output file, all the fonts that you need are there and will properly load into your file. One big drawback of this method is that many fonts come in different "flavors" - even within the same font family itself. Therefore, this is not the method that I propose that you do. Choice Two (Mac and PC) - After you have built your template and compiled it in your Desktop version of FusionPro to test if it works, "resave" your PDF template (resave - not just save, as this will clear out any extraneous junk from your template) and then perform a "collection" within FusionPro. In Acrobat, pull down the FusionPro menu and select "Collect" (it's about half way down the list). A second menu window appears. You then select "fonts" by checking off the box to the left. If you have paragraph styles with other font definitions or you use tagged resources in your data files, then select the sub-box below this as well. I usually create a .zip file by selecting the bottom box and giving a location to save the file. The .zip file that is created contains copies of the following: your template, the .dif and .def associated files, a temporary .cfg file, an imposition .fpi file if you used one, any text or graphic resource files used in the template (if you selected this option in the collect menu), and a file called Assets.dat. As long as this Asset.dat file is in the same sub-directory as your template and is "visible" by FusionPro Server, FusionPro Server will pull any font information (Mac or PC) from this in a useable form. This is great for Mac users that most times cannot load their Mac fonts into a PC based server box, or for Graphic companies whose standard operating procedures include rules such as "ONLY use the customer fonts whenever possible". After using this you (or you network administrator) will probably want to clean out all but the few necessary PC system fonts off of your FusionPro Server box. This will clear out memory and make your Server box run a bit faster. Good Luck, and HTH... --- David A.
