IMO, this is the *key*. That power must be
deprived of its sting, and that "we" must cease to
respect and worship "the great" is the message of
Elias Canetti's book: _Crowds and Power_.
I've been trying to "detoxify myself" in this area
for at least 20 years. How many are willing
to follow me in ignoring celebrities and deconstructing
the very notion of celebrity (including the celebrity of
deconstructionist "luminaries")?
I can only say that, when I "open my mouth" about this,
I get looks when not admonitions to "behave".
In all seriousness, if Y-w-h will come and speak with me
as a peer in discourse, I'm as ready to converse in
mutual respect with Y-w-h, as with any other sapient being.
But might does not make right, and, if [who/whatever] shows
me the instruments of torture, I, like the (arguable) founder of
the modern world, Galileo, will capitulate. "Never again."
