Subject: Re: (ICT-JOBS): ICT and jobs: Creator and/or destroyer?

Creator and/or destroyer? I would prefer to say Catalyst. ICT will serve
as a stimulus for job creation, but it will not be the Creator. In many
instances, it will serve to accelerate a process of job elimination that
had its beginnings someplace else. It shall goad man to become more
efficient and more competitive, eliminating time waste and outmoded forms
of work, but it will not be the Destroyer.

Modern technology, except its applications in the defense industries, does
not evolve to increase the misery still prevalent in our civilization. It
is a quest for perfection. The present and future state of communications
will make our lives easier and will foster levels of education unheard of
in centuries past. Better quality education is what is needed to take
advantage of the technology. Better systems of skill training are the
panacea for the unemployed and the under-employed. Our educational systems
should be revamped with imagination and foresight, to prepare the new
generations for a century of learning, technology, invention and discovery.

We should stop knocking technology as if we wanted to go back to some dark
ages of stagnant development and intellectual morass.

Technology? The spark of the Divine in our civilization.
