I am struck by the apparent inability of most people to remember
history, much less learn from it! I'm also highly concerned by the
anti-intellectualism that has such a strong stranglehold on most
working-class people's thinking in my part of the country. It's not
that they don't have a good education that bothers me, so much as that
they don't want a good education. They seem to think that knowledge is
a negative thing (perhaps because it interferes with belief?)!
Other thoughts at this point are too incoherent and poorly formulated
to attempt expression.
