I think what is interesting with this is the degree to which the students in
Quebec occupy a quite different normative/conceptual universe from the rest
of Canada i.e. seeing (and demonstrating for) education as a "public good"
rather than as a (neo-liberal) "investment".

It was a bit of a shock for me to read that article since it has been such a
long time since I had seen anyone espouse any position on higher education
which wasn't couched in "investment" language and from the article I
realized how far along we have been pushed conceptually by the neo-libs over
the last couple of decades.
