This is a step in a constructive direction.
Do "people" really READ this hideous bible story?
After G-d's command to Abraham, all of us
are put on notice of G-d's sadism (we already
knew G-d invented Death, but we'll leave that
aside for the moment).
And after Abraham set out to OBEY, What the hell
does it matter whether or not Abraham actually
carried out his intention? After Abraham brought
Isaac back from the slaughtering ground,
how could Isaac ever again sleep peacefully
in a house with an Adolf Eichmann if not
a Josef Goebbles who either follows the orders
of or actually kisses up to an omnipotent Hitler?
Get real!
I think it is OK to believe in G-d/Y-w-h. What troubles
me is when a believer actually says anything good
about this paranoid (ref.: Babel) sadist (ref.:
Isaac, and *especially*: Job).
