Breaking News
Fire Damages Presidential Library Washington, DC (Reuters)
A tragic and sad fire has destroyed the personal library of President
George W. Bush.
Both of his books have been lost.
The president is reportedly devastated - apparently, he had not finished
coloring the second one.
But NASA administrators and engineers are unanimoius in
their conviction that a single can of gasoline which
ignited in the library could not have
resulted in burning down the whole building.
There has to be something else we are missing,
they believe.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch [the exact location of
which is classified], Laura Bush laments the
loss of the only two books George had allowed her
to keep, as mementos from her prenuptial life as an intellectual.

BBC Radio has just announced that two shortlisted designs to replace the

For how long I wonder?
From what I've seen of the proposals in the media, they
are some combination of real-estate-business realism and
postmodernist meaningless fantasy.

However, to directly address your question, perhaps AlQaeda,
unlike GeorgeWBush is not stuck in its past. GeorgeWBush
can't get over the fact that "that man once tried to kill my dad",
and he seems willing to destroy the earth to pursue this
idee fixe.
Perhaps AlQaeda will soberly assess the new buildings, and
if they conclude that they are no longer the most
strategic targets (remember that "the Allies" invented
operations research in WWII...), they will apply their
resources to other targets where the ROI will be better.
