How do you know?
"[Saddam Hussein] poses a much graver threat than anybody could have possibly imagined. Other countries, of course, bear the same risk. But there's no doubt his hatred is mainly directed at us. There's no doubt he can't stand us. After all, this is a guy that tried to kill my dad at one time." (George W Bush, "Remarks by the President at John Cornyn for Senate Reception", White House Press Release, 26Sep02, 5:36PM CDT)
I have collected more similar quotes, although showing different aspects of Bush's "personality". Science generally extrapolates from the established data points. But I agree with you: We are desparately in need of a neurological workup and psychological evaluation of this person. As one legislator said last week, however, we know that he holds grudges and has a long memory for people who have crossed him. Bush has his special talents (see above). \brad mccormick

For how long I wonder?
From what I've seen of the proposals in the media, they are some combination of real-estate-business realism and postmodernist meaningless fantasy. -- However, to directly address your question, perhaps AlQaeda, unlike GeorgeWBush is not stuck in its past. GeorgeWBush can't get over the fact that "that man once tried to kill my dad", and he seems willing to destroy the earth to pursue this idee fixe. Perhaps AlQaeda will soberly assess the new buildings, and if they conclude that they are no longer the most strategic targets (remember that "the Allies" invented operations research in WWII...), they will apply their resources to other targets where the ROI will be better. \braD mccormickKeith Hudson****************************** Harry Pollard Henry George School of LA Box 655 Tujunga CA 91042 [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tel: (818) 352-4141 Fax: (818) 353-2242 ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------------ --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
