In today's OpEd piece, Friedman says that both the Israelis and the Palestineans have passed the point where their self-defense measures -- on both sides -- have become self-destructive, and "only an external force can bring people back to their senses..." I.e., the U.S. "with its influence, its wisdom and, if necessary, its troops.
It's always nice to read a credible public intellectual say what I've been saying, since there's some hope that those in the government whose sense of self-defense is sensitive to when self-defe3nse becomse self-destructive, may listen -- and try to affect policy accordingly.
