We are in complete agreement.
I in no way meant to suggest or imply that linear, causal,
mechanistic, materialistic explanations have no place. They are an invaluable
tool for much in our lives as is all kinds of linear thinking. The problem, as I
see it, is that when thinking is limited to ONLY that mode, we are in deep
trouble in terms of our ability to explain, understand, deal with , learn from
and about much of our world and we limit our creativity enormously.
