    home$ firefox --name=aaa &
    [1] 31448
    home$ xprop|grep CLASS
    WM_CLASS(STRING) = "gecko", "Firefox-bin"
    home$ firefox --version   
    Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.8, Copyright (c) 1998 - 2007 mozilla.org

This is running Firefox on a Fedora 7 system.
