Hello Thomas,

Some issues ... Gavin send me an email last night. Basicly without this conversion back to docbook, I probably can not convince the ZF team to use the new wiki manual. They really want to have the docbook format and keep the existing http://framework.zend.com/manual web pages for the current release of the ZF.
Personally, I think the wiki is already better than http://framework.zend.com/manual I also think we can do a wiki to HTML that will look better than the existing pages. However, not everyone agrees with me, so we need to keep the wiki-to-docbook conversion working.
I'm kind of lost actually, as the wiki to docbook conversion (as you mention) is not implementable. For instance, certain sections of the docbook are ignored in the wiki, so we can't revert those missing tags. You can also see that the structure of the wiki is a lot different then the current one (we discussed this before: "more scrolling, less clicking").
Which sections? Do we really need these "missing tags" in order to create the existing manual pages at http://framework.zend.com/manual ?
I think the wiki structure is better than http://framework.zend.com/manual
I think placing each function in Zend.php in a separate web page at http://framework.zend.com/manual is not as good as the wiki where the documentation for Zend.php was on one moderately sized wiki page.
I have suggested to export a space as html and apply a different stylesheet that matches the one used on http://framework.zend.com/manual. Other then that, I don't see any other options.... I'm waiting for a response on this from the core team.
I like this approach. If it works as good as http://framework.zend.com/manual , then I don't see why we couldn't use these HTML pages, instead of ones created by: wiki-to-docbook-to-HTML
I just hope that all my work hasn't been for nothing...
No, your work has already produced something better than what we had before ... and it is in the wiki with all the wonderful benefits of wikis.

I thought that the documenation in SVN will die as soon as we have our wikification ? This would be preferrable, because wiki -> docbook conversion is almost not implementable.

As long as we dont have our wikifikation ( I love this word ;-) ) I would let the documentation where it is... So in 3 weeks ( Andries has much work to implement ;-) ) we would cancel documenation in SVN. Documentation could then be downloaded by the homepage under downloads (PDF / HTML version)

Greetings
Thomas
