Hi Andries, the way we track releases has indeed changed, and I'm glad
you brought this up because it could use some clarification. The release
tracking in JIRA as it stands now is no release number or date is used
for releases that have not gone out yet. This gives us the flexibility
to change things as necessary during the course of planning a release
without abruptly changing expectations. Unreleased versions are still
tracked, but tracked 'anonymously' as 'next mini', 'next minor', and
'next major' release. We will be using this release tracking mechanism
throughout the 1.5 and 1.0.4 release process.
Going forward we can consider adding release numbers and dates as soon
as they have been finalized. I see no issue with making promises in the
issue tracker that we've already made on the list and elsewhere. :) We
will not add releases that have not been finalized, however, as this
makes reporting against issues (something we're relying on more at Zend
lately) a mess and could set false expectations.
